Earline Patterson Haney

Obituary: - Earline Patterson Haney, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis, NC. She was born February 10, 1918 in Madison County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Johnny Lee Coleman Patterson and Lovie Elizabeth James Patterson. She moved to Kannapolis to live in 1940. Earline was married to her late husband, Robert Boyd Haney who died in 1993 for fifty-one years. She was employed at J.C. Penney in Kannapolis for twenty-plus years. She was known for her alternations work at Penney's and at home until her early nineties. Her family fondly remembers her love of gardening especially her roses. Earline was active in various phases of church activities at Shadybrook Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she held her membership for over seventy years. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers; Lee Patterson and Joe Patterson; a sister, Sue Patterson Dagley; and a grandson-in-law, Randy Cook. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Shadybrook Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Rickey Oxford and Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the church fellowship hall prior to the service. Survivors include her children, Beth Haney (Jim) Cook of Waynesville, NC; Phil (Shirley) Haney of China Grove, NC; Johnny S. Haney of Kannapolis, NC; and Jane Johnson of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Christy Cook, Angie (Jerald) Overcash, T.J. (Alisha) Cook, and Claire & Caitlin Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Martin and Virginia Yeargin, both of Anderson, SC; Merle Hanner of Easley, SC; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Patterson of Decatur, GA and Winnie Lou Patterson of Royston, GA.
