Earline Virginia Poteat Snipes, 96, of Kannapolis, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Earline was born on March 5, 1928 at home in Rowan County, NC to the late Hubert Lee Poteat and Hallie Louise Phillips Poteat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Gail Snipes; sisters Louise Poteat Starnes and Ruby Poteat Chambers. She is survived by her son, Randy Snipes, of Kannapolis.
She graduated from Cannon High School, Class of 1945. She enjoyed growing up with lots of cousins who lived nearby. She worked at Roses and a local diner before working in Cannon Mills. In Cannon Mills she worked in the sewing room and later in the sample department before retiring in 2003.
She was a longtime member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis.
After her husband passed away she had a long time boyfriend Junior "Obie" Booth, who became part of the family. They enjoyed Shag dancing with friends at the senior center and spending time with each other and friends.
She loved her family, friends and neighbors. But most of all she loved her son, Randy, who continues to cherish her memory as well as others who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00am on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. A graveside service will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Rev. John Futterer officiating.
