Eddie Dean Greer

Obituary: Eddie Dean "Slick" Greer, 67 of Kannapolis died at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2015. "Slick" was born on Jan. 4, 1948 in Ashe County, NC the son of the late Charlie Victor Greer and the late Agnes Ham Greer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Greer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he received The Bronze Star. He worked for Cannon Mills Co. as an order picker in the shipping department. Later he worked for N.G.K. in Mooresville where he retired at age 62. Eddie was of the Methodist faith and a member of St. Andrews Church. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by his nephew, Pastor Michael Greer. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park with Military Honors conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Guard. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 before the service. Mr. Greer is survived by 2 brothers; Robert Greer (Janice) of Kannapolis and Richard Greer (Carol) of Lancing, NC. He is also survived by 7 sisters; Georgia Greer of Jefferson, NC, Lena Rinear of Fitzgerald, GA, Ella Shepherd (Ralph) of Winston-Salem, NC, Delphia Block (Michael) of La Jolla, CA, Judy Poe (Roger) and Geneva Spencer (Kenny ) both of Lancing, NC and Linda Tedder (Danny) of Warrensville, NC.
