Obituary: Kannapolis - Edgar G. "Ed" Boggs Jr. age 81, of Kannapolis died April 25, 2009 at his home. He was born July 25, 1927 in Cabarrus County the son of the late Edgar G. Boggs Sr. and Carrie Davis Boggs. He retired from Cannon Mills Co Plant1 General Superintendant after 45 years. He was of the Methodist faith. He also used to coach and play church softball in his earlier years. He was a veteran of WW II US Navy. He was a member of the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM Monday April 27, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 3:00 PM in Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Barden. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. He is survived by his wife Claudine Canup Boggs, two sons, Steve Boggs of Yorktown, Va. and Jeff Boggs and wife Sharon of Kannapolis, a grandson Brian Boggs of Kannapolis and a sister, Etta Sue Boggs Starnes of Raleigh.
