Edgar Lee Honeycutt, Sr.

Obituary: Edgar Lee Honeycutt Sr., 88, of Mt. Gilead, formerly of Kannapolis died Oct. 16, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. He was born November 10, 1922 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late M.L. and Etta Sloop Honeycutt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Cartner Honeycutt, four brothers and a sister.Edgar worked in the newspaper publishing business including the Daily Independent, the Charlotte Observer and the Salisbury Post. He was a longtime member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church before moving to Montgomery County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and hunting.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Carlo Greco. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. He is survived by his son, Ed Honeycutt Jr. (Elaine ) of Georgia, his daughter Rebecca Eudy of Concord, two grandsons Shane Eudy of Asheville and Christopher Eudy of Washington, two granddaughters Lori Fain (Brian) and their children; Allison, Kellen and Jason, and Jennifer Bolton (Eric) and their child, Elise.Memorials may be made to Mt.
