Edith Cook Barbee

Obituary: Edith Virginia Cook Barbee, 83, of 9810 Caycee Drive, Davidson, formerly of Kannapolis, died Saturday, May 02, 2009 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. She was born March 7, 1926 in Rowan County daughter of the late Grover A. and Amanda Isenhour Cook. She was of the Baptist Faith. She had been employed at Cannon Mills Plt. #1, #6 Weave Room for 36 years retiring in l989. She loved to cross stich, knit, and read. She is survived by two sons:Richard Wayne Moffitt of Davidson, NC with home she made her home, Roger Dale Moffitt of Kannapolis, four Daughters: Virginia Lumley Self of Gastonia, Judy Moore of Salisbury and Dolly Poston of Landis and Wanda Sue Barbee of Mt. Pleasant, two sisters: Margie Cleary of Kannapolis, Mary Bassinger of Lexington. Fourteen Grandchildren, Twelve Great Grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a Son: James Ronald Moffitt in 2002, and five brothers,Roscoe, Junior, James, Virgil, and J.C. Cook. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Poston and Rev. Shane Utley. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times the family will be 430 Backwoods Lane, China Grove.
