Obituary: Edith Rodgers Blackwelder, 93, of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. She was born January 3, 1920 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Wiley and Lillian Rumple Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Fisher Blackwelder. Edith retired in 1982 from Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1, Wash Cloth Dept. after 42 years. She was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church where she was a member of the senior citizens group. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated by Rev. Mark Portis and Rev. Duane Melton. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior from 1:30 to 3:00 at Whitley's Annex Chapel. She is survived by her son, Paul H. Brown and his special friend, Dianne Hill of Kannapolis and a brother, Edward Rodgers of Kannapolis.
