Obituary: Edith Mae Carpenter McSwain, 86, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Hospice House of Union County, Monroe, NC. She was born April 17, 1926 in Anson County, the daughter of the late Wilbur Atlas Carpenter and Nora Horne Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. McSwain in 1970. She retired from Cannon Mills in 1986 after 42 years of service. She was a member of Royal Oaks United Methodist Church. She was a 1944 graduate of Peachland High School, Peachland, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 28, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park. She is survived by a sister, Sylvia C. Kirkley of Kannapolis and a number of nieces and nephews.
