Edith Pethel, 81, of Troutman and formerly of Kannapolis, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 10, 2021.
Edith was born on June 21, 1940 in Clayton, NC to the late George Lynch and Ruth Raines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Pethel, and a brother, Rodney Lynch.
Edith was proud to be the first female supervisor at Cannon Mills and retired after 30 years. She supervised #1 Weave Room and #1 Slasher Room. She was a faithful member of New Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her pound cakes and potato salads. She loved watching sports, especially baseball and NASCAR racing. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach. Most of all, her family was her world and she cherished spending time with them.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Chris (Lorrie) Pethel and Mike (Susan) Pethel; two grandchildren, Matthew Pethel and Ryan Pethel; brothers, Roy (Anna) Lynch, Buddy (Dot) Lynch, Steve (Peggy) Lynch and R.M. (Lydia) Lynch, and sisters, Doris Hammond and Lynda Melton.
The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Mason officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
