Edna Catherine Bazely Brawley

Obituary: Edna Catherine Bazeley Brawley, age 79, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after four years of declining health. She was born October 14, 1931 in Hinsdale, Illinois, the daughter of the late William Bull Bazeley and Hazel Susan Axmann Bazeley. Edna was a 1949 graduate of Hinsdale Township High School, Hinsdale, IL and a 1982 graduate of Pfeiffer College. In earlier years, Edna was Officer-in-Charge of the Cherryville Post Office, Cherryville, NC. Later, she was Supervisor of the Concord Post Office, Concord, NC. Eventually, she retired as Postmaster of the Harrisburg Post Office, Harrisburg, NC after 20 years of service in 1991. She was named Woman of the Year in 1985 by the local Cabarrus Gold Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. Her family fondly remembers her love of traveling including special trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and rafting down the Salmon River in Idaho. She and her husband were married August 9, 1952. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Neal Brower. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James F. Brawley Two daughters, Susan Brawley Searcy & husband, Earl of Morganton, NC and Ann Brawley Milford & husband, James of Waxhaw, NC One son, David F. Brawley & wife, Ladonna of Charlotte, NC Six grandchildren, Meghan Woodlief & husband, Bryan, Jason Searcy, Melissa Brawley, Adam Brawley, Ryan Milford, and Josh Milford.
