Edna Bumgarner

Obituary: Edna Maggleen James Bumgarner, 88, of Landis went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her residence. Edna was born March 27, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Thomas Larkin James, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Pearson James. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman E. Bumgarner, two daughters, Deborah E. Chamberlain and Rebecca Ann Hurst, and three sisters; Kay Frances Johnson, Mary Lou Hawkins, Marie Hearn. Edna was an active member of God's Church of Faith as long as her health permitted. She was an operating room technician at CMC-Northeast Medical Center until her retirement. Edna had written a book titled "Lizzie" about her Mother's life. She also was an active member of the YMCA as long as she was able. She was one of seventeen children her mother raised. She love to raise a garden and was an avid bird watcher. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at God's Church of Faith, Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Jeff Upright. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. Family members left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Sherry James Chamberlain of Gaffney, SC and Jenny Lynn Chamberlain of the home; whom was her mother's caretaker, one brother, Bobby Gene Fowler (Bonnie) of China Grove, two sisters, Shirley Stottman (Harold) of China Grove, Judy Leazer (Jerry) of China Grove, a brother-in-law, Ray Johnson of Kannapolis. She is also survived by six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Memorials may be made to God's Church of Faith, 811 Elm St, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
