Edna Mae Power

Obituary: Kannapolis - Mrs. Edna Mae Power, 84 of 150 Homeland Drive, China Grove, formerly of South Ridge Avenue, Kannapolis, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord following a period of declining health. She was born January 12, 1925 in Madison County, Ga. daughter of the late Tom and Glennie Carrington Power. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed at Cannon Mill Plant #1, sewing room for 43 years until her retirement in l996. She also was employed at Family Dollar for many years. She was of the Methodist Faith. She is survived by two sons: Henry C. Power and wife Kay of China Grove, Tony L. Power and wife Linda of Kannapolis and one daughter: Alma McNeely and husband Terry of China Grove. She is also survived by one Sister: Sarah Tschuely of Hampton, Ga. Nine Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Joe Power of Metairie, La. and a sister: Betty Smith of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. David Hayes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the services. At other times the family will be at their respective residences. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Power.
