Edna Lee Kite Steen, 76, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Tucker Hospice House.
Edna was born on April 7, 1946 in Rowan County to the late John Henry Kite and Mae Thompson Kite. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Brown and Reba Whitaker.
Edna spent her career sewing baby blankets and clothing at Terry Products and retired after 35 years. She attended Kannapolis Church of God. In her free time, she enjoyed going dancing at the Cabarrus County Senior Center with her husband. She always looked forward to attending the mini reunions for the A. L. Brown Class of 1964. She also loved going shopping with all her girls and was especially fond of a new pair of shoes.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 58 years; Gerald Steen; two daughters, Tracey S. Wilansky (Keith McRae) and Donna S. (Danny) Anderson; sister, Johnsie (Joe) Dunlap; grandchildren, Blair (Allen) Wagner, Katie Wilansky, Evan (Nayla) Anderson, and Michael Wilansky; great-grandchildren, Colt Wagner, Alanna Wagner, and Emersyn JoLee Wagner on the way.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Watkins officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
