Obituary: Edsel Ray Plummer, Sr., 83, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Concord, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 25, 2017 after a brief illness. Ed was born, August 13, 1934 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Allen E. and Mamie Huneycutt Plummer. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Allen H. Plummer and 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Ed was a life-long member of West Concord Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, Brotherhood leader and member of the relocation committee. He owned and operated Plummer's Office Products and was a member of the Cabarrus Lodge #720 for 52 years. Ed enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and rebuilding old Ford tractors and VW Bugs. He and his wife, Sib, enjoyed traveling to such places as the Holy Land, Hawaii, Europe, Canada and Thailand. The trip to Bangkok, Thailand was to visit their nephew, Eric Mullis (Tricia), serving as missionaries with IMB. Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylbia Rudisill Plummer of Mt. Pleasant, his son, Eddie Plummer (Cynthia) of Mt. Pleasant, his daughter-in-law, Michelle Plummer and 4 wonderful grandchildren whom he adored and loved spending time with; Blake Plummer (Mackensie), Jordan, Grey and Katherine Plummer, his sister Mearlyn Mullis (Ed) of Concord, many loved nieces and nephews and special "adopted" grandchildren, Liddy and Farley. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 2 at West Concord Baptist Church with Rev Mike Farley officiating. A private family committal service will be held.
