Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Edward Lee (Eddie) Cline, age 77, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 27, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. He was born January 2, 1935 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Leroy Cline and Bertha Hahn Cline. Eddie was owner & operator of Cline Motors, Concord, NC since 1973 until his retirement in 1996. Prior to that, he worked for Beasley-Cross Chevrolet and Hilbish Ford for many years. He was a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge # 695, Scottish Rite Bodies of Charlotte, and Oasis Shrine Temple. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard for seven years. Eddie was also known for his love of fishing and watching NASCAR racing. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Betty Barnes Cline; a son, Eric L. Cline & wife, Paula of Statesville, NC; a daughter, Wendy C. Hill & husband, Walter of Kannapolis, NC; three grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Lee Cline, and Avery Cline.
