Edward Grady Long

Edward Grady Long, 54, of Kannapolis went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 11-1 pm with a Memorial Service to follow led by Pastor Roger Bostic.

Grady as most people knew him, was born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina and graduated A.L. Brown High School in 1989. He was a talented trumpet player who enjoyed entertaining friends, family, neighbors and playing his trumpet in church as well. He was an avid reader and his cousin Vicky was always giving him more books to read. He loved the outdoors, fishing, music, especially John Denver and the song Amazing Grace. He would lend a hand to everyone, especially his elders. He loved his family, friends and God.

Grady was predeceased by his grandparents, Arlene and Dayton Strickland, and Rushie and Elbert Long, and quite a few other relatives.

He is survived by, his beloved parents, Beulah Strickland Fink and Eldred Long; his siblings, Penny Purser and her husband Randy, Aaron Fink and his wife Joye, Claudia Purser and her fiancé Josh; his favorite aunties, Sibbie, Mary Jo and Faye. He also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He always mentioned his favorite pastors, Gene Beaver and Roger Bostic.

In lieu of flowers donations to Resurrection Baptist Church, 5615 Old Salisbury-Concord Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28083, for a parking lot in honor of Grady.  All donations will be greatly appreciated.

He will be forever in our hearts and missed dearly.
