Edwin Green

Obituary: Edwin "Eddie" Green, 87, of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his home. He was born January 14, 1926 in Union County, SC, the son of the late Claude and Rowena Richardson Green. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty E. Green and a son, Mark E. Green. He was a brickmason with Brookshire Masonry for 35 years retiring in 1990. Eddie was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where he was active in various building projects at the church. In his earlier years, Eddie was a professional boxer. He started out in Golden Gloves at the Cannon YMCA. He was inducted into the N.C. Boxing Hall of Fame in 1991. Eddie loved rabbit hunting, fishing and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at North Kannapolis Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guin. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM prior at church. He is survived by two daughters, Robin Williams of Concord, Patty Hipp (Warren) of Kannapolis, 6 grandchildren: Kurt Hilton (Sheena), Kelly Vanderburg (Micah), Jonathan Hipp, Madison Hipp, Zachary Green, Sydney Green, 3 great grandchildren: Asher and Ellis Vanderburg and Davis Hilton and his sister, Kathleen Watts of Kannapolis.
