Effie Goode Mullis

Obituary: Effie Goode Mullis, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Universal Healthcare, Concord, NC. She was born September 9, 1918 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Earl Sander Goode and Mary Jessie Wiseman Goode. Effie was employed with the former Cannon Mills and Johnson Mills Companies for many years until her retirement in 1960. She was a member of New Hope Independent Baptist Church, Concord, NC where she was active with the senior citizens. Her family fondly remembers Effie's love for being with her family, going on trips, and especially going to church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Sam H. Mullis; three sons, Johnnie Mullis, Sammie Mullis, and Larry Mullis; one daughter, Joyce Beckem; two brothers, Arthur Goode and Richard Goode; and three sisters, Lula Mae Goode, Betty Fink, and Mary Fink. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, October 2, 2015 at New Hope Independent Freewill Baptist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Roger Bostic. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her children, Lois Klouse, Callie Reames, Audrey Adams, Beatrice Helms, Harold Mullis, and Ray Mullis; twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
