Elaine (Woodward) Brown

October 25, 1946 — April 1, 2023

Kannapolis

Elaine Woodward Brown, 76, was born in Hartsville South Carolina on October 25th, 1946 and entered into heavenly rest on April 1st, 2023 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Bryan Woodward and Dorothy Dixon Woodward and her sister Barbara Jean Woodward. She was sister to Luther Woodward (Wendy), Bennie Woodward (Ruthie), David Woodward (Karen), Elbert Woodward and Boyd Woodward (Suzanne).

Elaine was a loving mother to Kenneth Woodward, David Tilley, Michael Tilley (Gail) and Cheryl Brown. Elaine was lovingly called Maw Maw by her nine grandchildren Kenny, Alicia, David, Dana, Preston, Jacob, Griffin, Hudson and Beckett, and she was proud to be a great grandmother to seven.
Elaine worked for thirty-nine years in Cannon Mills until its closing in 2003 and retired from the Rowan Salisbury school system in June of 2012.  Elaine worked hard all of her life, but she always considered her greatest accomplishment to be the raising of her four amazing children.  She was so proud of each of them, and never hesitated to tell them how much she loved them.  For fun, Elaine loved to play bingo, bowl, and spend time with her family. In her younger years, she played in a local women's softball league and won a national championship in 1978. Elaine was a wonderfully unique soul and was treasured by all who knew her. She had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and her strong will served her well throughout her life.

A memorial service will be held at Whitley’s funeral home in Kannapolis, North Carolina on Saturday, April 8th at 5pm.  Family will be receiving visitors immediately preceding the service.
