Obituary: Elaine Morrison Linn went to be with her heavenly father on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born Elaine Morrison on September 7, 1919, daughter of the late William Brown Morrison and Mollie Earnhardt of the Odell community. She married Robert Montgomery Linn on April 12, 1941, who preceded her in death. Elaine leaves behind a loving family; 2 sons, Robert Eugene Linn and wife, Suzanne and Stephen Ray Linn and wife, Linda, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Elaine was a lifelong member of Gilwood Presbyterian Church and always gave a helping hand to those in need. She had a deep love for her church family. The family wishes to thank all for their visits and prayers. She was a true Rosie the Riveter. She and her husband worked for Goodyear Aircraft during WWII. She riveted wing steps on F4U Corsair Fighter aircraft while her husband worked on the engine compartment. They returned to Cabarrus Co. and worked for Cannon Mills and Burlington Industries. Elaine worked 30 years on 3rd shift and still found time for her family. The family will receive friends at Gilwood Presbyterian Church, Concord NC from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday, January 26, the funeral will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alan Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The rest of the time the family will be at her residence. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
