Elizabeth “Frances” Covington Dowell, 90, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab. Salisbury after a period of declining health.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 23 at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Wade Easom officiating. Her family will receive friends at the graveside 30 minutes prior to the committal service.
Frances was born June 6, 1930 in Anson Co., a daughter of the late William B. and Ellen Shephard Covington. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Covington.
A lifelong area resident, Frances was also a member of the Enochville Church of God. In earlier years, she worked at Ketners Grocery Store before it became Food Lion. Later Frances worked at Cannon Mills co. as a hemmer in the towel department. Frances enjoyed camping with her family and after retiring she enjoyed traveling around the world.
Those left to cherish her memories include her children; Roger L. Dowell of Kannapolis, Kathy Dowell Goodwin (Paul) of Salisbury and Amy Dowell McGuire (Danny) of Landis; her grandchildren, Julia Dowell of Waxhaw, Misty Goodman of Faith, Mandy Goodwin Castor of Kannapolis, Jennifer McGuire of LA and Ashlee McGuire Moore of Kannapolis; her great-grandchildren, Dillon and Eli Jenkins and Aiden Bucksbaum and Aubrie Moore, and her sister Brenda Covington Wilhelm of Huntersville.
