Ellen Gibson Adams

Obituary: Ellen Gibson Adams, 89, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Autumn Care of Salisbury following a period of declining health. She was born January 22, 1922 in Chesterfield County, SC daughter of the late Lewis and Flonnie Eubanks Kirkley. She was an active member of Kannapolis West A Street Church of God and had retired from Cannon Mills Plt. #1, Weave Room #6, following 45 years of service. She loved to quilt and make crafts. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Graveside services will be 2:30 P.M at Fork Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson, SC.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Millard H. Adams. Survivors include two sons: Benny H. Gibson (Judy) and Hugh Kenneth Gibson(Margaret) all of China Grove, two daughters: Dianne G. Smith of Charlotte and Kimberly G. Jadro (Earl) of Concord, one brother, Newell Kirkley of China Grove, two sisters, Dorothy Oliver of Jefferson, SC and Bonnie Sullivan of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220 or to Kannapolis West A Street Church of God, 2211 West A Street Kannapolis, NC 28081-9322. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Adams.
Visitation: Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service on Saturday, January 14, 2012.

Service: Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Whitleys Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Graveside services will be 2:30 P.M at Fork Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson, SC.
