Ellen Hoover Brown

Ellen Hoover Brown, 60, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2022.  Ellen was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 24, 1962 to Dr. Charles E. Hoover and the late Winnie Strozier Hoover.

Ellen dedicated her life to the Methodist Church with her late husband Michael. Ellen loved being a mother and grandmother.  Her time was never more precious than when she was with family.  She loved reading and has volunteered at many libraries over the years, cherishing her time inspiring a love of reading to those she encountered.  She enjoyed baking for friends and family, and was beyond thrilled when she had the opportunity to share her love of baking with her grandchildren. She was an avid crossword puzzle lover, a love passed down from her mother.  As her children grew up, she found a new independence in her career, as she dedicated the last 15 years to her second family at Staples.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rev. Michael Eric Brown in 2017 and her mother Winnie Strozier Hoover.  Family members left to cherish her memories include her son, Paul Brown; her daughters, Mary Ellen Clifford and her husband Scott, Elizabeth King and her husband Aron, and Hannah Moore and her husband Mike; her father, Dr. Charles E. Hoover; her brothers, Dr. William Hoover and Dr. Charles S. Hoover and his wife Abigail; her grandchildren, Riley, Kennedy and Harper Clifford, Sawyer, Reagan, Lincoln and Sutton Moore; her niece, Olivia Hoover and her nephew, Jack Hoover.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 3:00pm in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in Ellen’s memory to the Concord Friends of the Library.
