Obituary: Ellen Jane Bowman Hartness, 78 of Kannapolis died at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis on Nov. 1, 2015. Ellen was born on August 4, 1937 in Patrick Co., VA, the daughter of the late Pearly Green Bowman and the late Rosebell Chandler Bowman. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Ted Malone Hartness, a son, Alvin Theadgill and a number of brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hartness had been a resident of Kannapolis since 1980 and had worked for Fildcrest Cannon, Inc. Plant #1, #7 Card Room for 28 years. Survivors include three daughters; Ramona Pettit (Richard), Linda McCall (Jerry) and Martha Guy; three sons, Richard Theadgill, Rick Theadgill and Kenny Theadgill (Nancy); a sister, Betty Craig (John), 19 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. The service for Mrs. Hartness will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, graveside services at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove conducted by Rev. Ronnie Cooper. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m., Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
