Ellen Frances Shaver

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Ellen Frances O'Brien Shaver, age 93, passed away recently in Sacramento, CA. She was born May 26, 1923 in Danville, VA, the daughter of the late Richard Joseph O'Brien and Mary Agnes Binns O'Brien. Frances moved to Spencer, NC in 1938. She was a graduate of Spencer High School in 1942. She married the late Herman L. Shaver in 1943. She retired from Virginia international Terminal (formerly Southern Stevedore) in Norfolk, VA in 1976 and returned to Kannapolis, NC. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kannapolis, NC where she had been active in various phases of church activities through the years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Richard Edward Shaver; and two brothers, Richard Joseph O'Brien, Jr. (R.J.) and George Edward O'Brien. By a family request there will be no funeral service. Survivors include her son, Francis Herman Shaver of Sacramento, CA; one brother, William Binns O'Brien of Norfolk, VA; and her sister, Mary Katherine (Kitty) Shaver of Kannapolis, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
