Elmer Ketner

Obituary: Elmer Ketner, 88, of Kannapolis died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1922 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Guy and Effie Troutman Ketner. He had owned and operated Ketner's Floor Covering in Kannapolis for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving during WW II. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and the former Bethany Lutheran Church. While at Bethany, he was involved with the church choir, the Boy Scouts and was a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed fishing and making birdhouses. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Kim Trabold. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Beck Ketner, his daughter Bonita Webster of Raleigh, his grandson Brett Webster of Raleigh and his twin brother Earl Ketner of Lexington.
