Elmer "Dave" Layton Davenport

Elmer "Dave" Davenport, 89, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his home in Kannapolis.
Dave was born September 28, 1932 in Bethel, NC to the late William Davenport and Eugenia Andrews. He served his country in the US Navy where he met his wonderful wife Pat. He was a truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight. He was a member of Genesis Baptist Church in China Grove, NC.

Visitation will be Tuesday at 2pm & funeral service will be held at 3pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, officiated by Pastor Gene Edwards.
Dave was a loving husband & father that will greatly missed.

Dave always had a smile and would welcome you into his home. He loved showing you special things he had made (like the pinewood derby cars or other creations). He always had a story to tell.

Dave was preceded in death by daughters Carol Ann (Gouge) & Mary Jean Davenport. Survivors include wife of 69 years, Pat Davenport of Kannapolis, NC; sons, Ben, Billy & Carl (Crystal) Davenport, granddaughters, Krissy (Brandon) Gee & Ashley (Joshua) Robbins; grandsons, Jeffrey Davenport & Layton Davenport; and 5 great-grandchildren, and many other beloved extended family.

Memorials can be made to Genesis Baptist Church Building Fund or St. Jude's Children's Hospital
