Obituary: Concord-Elvia Deanna Tucker, 71, passed away Friday morning, May 27, 2016 following a period of declining health. Born January 15, 1945 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Estus Hanon and Nellie Ann Love Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Hoyle Tucker and sisters, Mary Frances Whitley and Margie Ann Coleman. Elvia worked for Cannon Mills until its' closing, then continued her education at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She had also worked in the Adult Training Resource Department of RCCC. A member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, she loved her Lord and was a loving and faithful lady. Elvia enjoyed good conversation on the phone to her family and friends. Family members include her nieces and nephews, Richard Tucker and wife, Carolyn, Retha Coleman, Lisa Hinson and husband, Bill, David Tucker and wife, Brenda, Steve Tucker and wife, Karen, and Melindie Whitley; her cousin Atha Russell and husband, Jack; and many great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Ms. Tucker will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Concord.
