Elwood Bower

Obituary: Elwood Carl "Bud" Bower, Sr. , 90, of Concord, NC passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born September 21, 1924 in Owego, NY son of the late Elwood Kennedy Bower and the late Sarah Crooks Bower. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Bower Williams, sister, Marguerite Bower Fourness and a granddaughter, Kimberly Bower. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy S. Bower, Son, Elwood Carl "Woody" Bower, Jr. and wife Jean, daughter, Susan D. Bower, three grandchildren; Jennifer Shoun (Trent), Brooks Thurston (Ed), and Michael Williams (Patricia), five great- grandchildren; Nicholas Bower, Savannah LeBlanc, Taylor Shoun, Alston Williams and Kaleb Williams. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Friday, November 14, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence. Mr. Bower was a US Army veteran of WW2 serving in the European Theater. He retired from IBM after 42 years of service. He was of the Lutheran Faith. The family request that in Lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
