Born July 21, 1951 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Columbus James Armstrong, Sr. and Flora Bell Carter Armstrong.
During her working years, Emily was a jewelry store office manager for many years. She had many hobbies, including collecting lighthouses, porcelain pigs, love crocheting, and found peaceful time in mowing the lawn. Emily was a proud graduate A.L. Brown’s Class of 1969.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Richard Chapman; two sons, Stacy Aaron and Eric Shane Chapman; one granddaughter Kailee Michelle Chapman; a brother, Columbus James “Jim” Armstrong, Jr. of Houston; a sister, Barbara Jean Howard of Salisbury; nieces and nephews; Mark Howard and wife Ellen, Toni Howard Smith and husband Chris, Dana Chapman, and Andrew Armstrong; and special fur babies, Spanky and Mr. Lincoln Kitty.
A memorial service will be planned for a date later to coincide with her favorite time of the year, when spring breathes life into the blooms of the buttercups.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street Market Place and Meeting Center, 308 S. Main Street, China Grove, NC 28083 or Rowan Helping Ministries, 226 N. Long Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
