Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Emma Elizabeth Kidd Carter, age 94, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at her home. She was born July 25, 1920 in Madison County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas I. Kidd and Martha Langford Kidd. She moved to Kannapolis to live in 1940. Emma was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Sheet Dept. from 1941 into the 1960's. In earlier years, she was an active member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was active in various church activities. Her family fondly remembers her love of gardening, cooking, and sewing for people. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four brothers, Hughel Kidd, Walter Kidd, Marcus Kidd, and Fred Kidd; and three sisters, Imogene Kidd, Mozelle Seymour, and Odell Moon. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Neal Brower. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include two brothers, Hoke Kidd & wife, Graydene and Weyman Kidd & wife, Jeanette, both of Kannapolis, NC; a sister, Dorothy K. Starnes of Supply, NC; and a number of nieces & nephews. Memorials may be made to Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083. On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
