Obituary: Emma Hartsell Fulham, age 95, passed from death into life eternal Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the home she shared with her daughter, Kay Pethel, in Kannapolis, NC. Emma was born March 13, 1922 in Stanly County, to the late John Henry and Rosella Crayton Hartsell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Fulham; son, Rodney D. Helms; granddaughter, Mary E. Carpenter; sisters, Margie Blake, Louise Mauney, Elenora Thompson, Annie Benge, and Onilee Hartsell; brothers, Charles Hartsell, John Hartsell, Jr., Billy Hartsell, Mack Hartsell, and George Hartsell. Along with her daughter, Kay, Emma is survived by her brother, Fetzer Hartsell and wife Betty; granddaughters, Eva Clanton and husband Terry, Martha Hardin and husband Phil; grandson, Steven Helms; great grandson, Chase Hardin; step-grandson, Darvin Pethel and wife Tana, and their children, Talitha McGuinness, Tenille Watts, and Adam Pethel, and families; step-granddaughter, Tammy Barker and husband Jerrold, and many more beloved family members and friends, and a very close, especially loved friend, Janelle Harrington. Emma loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, receiving Him into her heart as a young woman. This was evidenced by the love she showed others. She was an outgoing, friendly person, who was always eager to make new friends. God blessed Emma with many gifts and talents, which at different times of life included: teaching Sunday school, door to door selling, hand embroidery, crochet, artistry, flower gardening, cooking/baking, hairdressing, poetry writing, and child daycare. After raising her children, she began employment in hosiery mill work, from which she retired at age 62. She led a full and productive life, and was very hardworking, although her greatest accomplishment, was her ability to love her family and friends unconditionally. She was extremely kind, and had a generous heart, and although she never had a lot, she was always overjoyed to be able to give something to anyone. The service for Mrs. Fulham will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 8th, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ralph Robinette. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. before the service. Heaven is sweeter, now that she is there, and although she will be sorely missed for a little while, our Hope is in the One she has gone home to, and we know we'll meet her one day, again.
