Emma (Furr) Gulledge

Emma Furr Gulledge, 91, of Concord went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at The Greens At Cabarrus following a period of declining health.

Emma was born May 7, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Albert Arthur Furr and Mary Idabelle Brooks Furr. She was the last of twelve siblings. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bennie Ray Gulledge who died September 2, 2019. Also preceding her was a granddaughter, Brittany Melton and a daughter Brenda Rowell.

She was a longtime member of Genesis Baptist Church. She was a winder tender for Linn-Corriher Mills for many years.

Family members left to cherish her memories include two sons, Tony Gulledge and wife Debra and Billy Gulledge and wife Sherry, all of Kannapolis. She is also survived by two daughters, Judy Waddell and husband Barry of Chesterfield, S.C and Kathy Melton and husband Roger of Kannapolis. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Mike Rowell of Rockwell.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. Rex Ware. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
