Obituary: Mrs. Erelene Rebecca Aycoth Pate, 93, of Harrisburg, died peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2017. She was born April 17, 1923 in Union County, North Carolina, to the late Edward Sylvester Aycoth and Julia Moser Aycoth. She was a former member of the Covenant Church of Harrisburg. Erelene was a sweet, simple, southern lady with a green thumb. She loved laughing with friends and family; sitting in her living room with her dog, "Sam"; gardening vegetables and flowers; and cooking biscuits, beans, and cornbread. Many summer days were spent outdoors in her garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Fred Pate Jr. who she married on October 11, 1963; her daughter Elaine Strickland; four sisters, and four brothers. Survivors include her sister Jo Green and husband Jim Green; sister Darsie Brown; grandchildren, Leslie Hudson, Melissa Nelson, Danny Hudson, Amy Richardson, Cole Strickland, and Cody Strickland; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. on Friday, February 10, 2017, at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the graveside service at 2:00 P.M. in Carolina Memorial Park with the Rev.
