Erlene Shaver Finney

Obituary: Erlene Shaver Finney, age 92, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from the Brian Center of Concord after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Feb. 28 at Royal Oaks United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Strahan and Rev. Dr. Greg Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Saturday, Feb. 27. Erlene was born July 29, 1923 in Iredell Co., a daughter of the late S. J. and Jettie Lunsford Shaver. She was the oldest of 3 girls. Erlene was a life-long area resident and Charter member of Royal Oaks United Methodist Church, where she was active as a sunday school teacher and a member of the UMW. Erlene worked for many years for Cannon Mills as a re-inspector in the wash cloth dept. She loved to cook for her family and collected lighthouses. Erlene was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Erlene was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Finney and her 2 sisters, Irene Barbee and June Shaver. She is survived her 2 sons; Wayne Finney of Kannapolis and Larry Finney (Mary Linda) of China Grove, her grandson, Scott Finney (fiancée Ashley) and 2 great granddaughters, Bethany and Katie and numerous nieces and nephews.
