Erma Lee (Oliphant) Jones

Erma Lee Oliphant Jones, 87, of China Grove, went into her heavenly home with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Erma was born on August 21, 1934 in Cabarrus County to the late Willie Dewitt Oliphant and Margaret Mayhew Oliphant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lowell Ray Jones; son, Don Ray Jones; and brother, Ernold “Mack” Oliphant.

Erma retired from Cannon Mills after over 40 years. She enjoyed 25 years of retirement, where she got to do all of her favorite things. She loved taking trips to the beach with her daughter Joann and son-in-law Jerry, going shopping and going out to eat. She always looked forward to her appointments at the beauty salon and simply loved just riding along in the car with family. She had a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds and enjoyed feeding the birds and swans. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joann (Jerry) Huffman, three grandchildren, Jeremy (Brandi) Huffman, Jamie (William) Renken, and Julie (Randy) Rayfield; six great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Colby, Caden, Palmer, Braxton, and Jaylee; and two brothers, John Lewis “Butch” (Nedda) Oliphant and Jim (Marcia) Oliphant.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Mausoleum Chapel of West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Pastor Mike Roper officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
