Estelle Chasteen Connelly

Obituary: Concord, NC- Estelle Chasteen Connelly, age 70, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a month of declining health and a serious illness of 2 weeks. She was born June 24, 1941 in Anderson County, S.C., the daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Chasteen and Viola Cheek Chasteen. Estelle was employed with the former SmithKline-Beecham, Aiken, SC for five years until her retirement due to disability. She lived in Columbia, SC where she helped to take care of an aunt for a period of time. Later, she moved back to the Anderson, SC area to be close to family. She moved to Concord, NC in 2010 to be even closer to her grandchildren. Estelle was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. She is remembered as a person who never met a stranger. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by the Rev. Mike Edwards. A 4:30 P.M. graveside service will be held later that day at Garden of Memories, Anderson, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the funeral home. Survivors include her son, Chad F. Connelly & wife, Jennifer of Concord, NC; a daughter, Kimberly C. Pope of Windsor, SC; four grandchildren, Lydia Connelly, Nathan Connelly, Thomas Connelly, and James Connelly; one brother, Ralph Chasteen of Florence, AL; and four sisters, Sylvia Rutledge and Ella Mae Timms of Belton, SC, Juanita Butler and Faye Mull of Anderson, SC.
