Esther (Safrit) Sims

Mary “Esther” Safrit Sims, 86, passed away Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, at Caremoor Retirement Community, where she had been a resident.

Born June 20, 1937, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Aaron Pinkney Safrit and Alice Mae Webster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel C. Vila.

Esther was a proud graduate of Landis High School. She loved books, was an avid reader and a collector of jewelry. She also enjoyed classical music and loved her sweets. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mrs. Sims will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family members include her daughter, Terri Jones and husband, Dale; her granddaughter, Holly Jones Teeter and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Maggie and Oliver Teeter; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm Saturday, August 19th at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor David Haltom.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
