Estus (Sonny) White

Obituary: Estus Bowers "Sonny" White, 87, of Kannapolis passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018. He was born August 8, 1930 in Rowan County, a son of the late Estus White Jr. and Elouise Bowers White. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild. Estus was the Clerk of Superior Court for Cabarrus County for over 20 years. He owned North State Business College and also taught there for many years. He also owned White's Office Supply and Printing. He was former president of the Cabarrus County Fair. He was active in helping organize the former Cabarrus Bank, now Uwharrie Bank. Sonny was also very active in various social clubs and civic organizations through the years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Sonny is survived by his wife, Phyllis Marie Davis White, son, Estus White III and wife, Carolyn, daughter, Debra Lynn White Baker, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
