Obituary: Marie Pinion Collier, 83, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at CHS-Northeast Medical Center. Born August 12, 1934 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Grady Alexander and Minnie Ethel Coffey Pinion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Pinion and a sister, Mary Lee Pinkston. Marie was a graduate of Hartsell High School. She had worked as a finisher in the furniture industry and retired from American Drew. Mrs. Collier later worked for Coltrane Life Center in Concord. She loved all of her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed fishing, painting, making jewelry and mining trips to Hiddenite. Family members left with cherished memories include her children, Terry Culp (Cindy), Sharon Williams (Todd), Donna Canupp (Ricky), Bruce Turner (Minerva) and Jimmy Collier; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Wayne, nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorial services to remember and celebrate Marie's life will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, September 22nd, at Back Creek Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Thrailkill.
