Ettie Ruth Hubbard

April 20, 1940 — December 16, 2013

Obituary: Ettie Ruth Hastings Hubbard, 73, of Kannapolis, went home to be with her Lord on December 16, 2013 at CMC-Northeast, after a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1940 in Concord, North Carolina. Ettie Ruth enjoyed a rich, full life. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmama. She was an active member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where she served in the music ministry as organist, pianist and choir member, as well as active in her Sunday School class and mission group. She shared her love of music with her children and grandchildren, giving several of them piano lessons. While she was active in the forming of Hubbard & Associates, Inc., one of her greatest legacies was the care she provided for her own mother the last years of her life. She will be missed, but the family is already anticipating a great reunion with her in God's kingdom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Lillian Hastings, and her brother, Paul Hastings. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Kannapolis; three children - Mark Hubbard of Concord, Phil (Crystal) Hubbard of Mooresville, and Mike (Tracy) of Kannapolis. Seven grandchildren - Jacob Hubbard of Concord, Stephen Hubbard of Concord, Daniel Hubbard of Mooresville, Katie Hubbard of Charlotte, Michael Hubbard of Mocksville, Abigail Hubbard of Mocksville, and Hadlee Lane Hubbard of Kannapolis. Two great-grandchildren - Alex Hubbard, and Carson Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday December 18, at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard and Rev. Rickey Oxford will be held at Shadybrook Baptist Church on Thursday December 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Internment will follow at Carolina's Memorial Park in Concord. Memorials may be made to Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
