Eugene Grimes

Obituary: China Grove, NC- Eugene Vondel Grimes (Pedro), age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home. He was born January 10, 1941 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Ross Junior Grimes and Geneva Jessie Horde Grimes. Pedro was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Slasher Room for over fifty years until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing his guitar having also played in various bands over the years. He also liked playing cards and cooking for his family and neighbors. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jean Tilley Grimes; three brothers, Jerry Grimes, Charlie Grimes, and Jimmy Grimes; a son, Tony Grimes; a daughter, Gerri Ann Gibbs; and a grandson, Levi Grimes. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at the home of his son, Richard Grimes, Landis, NC. Survivors include his sons, Richard Grimes (Angela of Landis, NC; Boyd Ewing (Linda) of Kannapolis, NC; siblings, Bobby Grimes (Dot), Daphne Brown (Junior), and Gwen Austin, all of China Grove, NC; and eleven grandchildren.
