Obituary: Eugene Jordan, 90, formally of Columbia S.C. went to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Born November 23, 1928 in Miami, Florida, he was the son of the late Grady Jordan and Bessie Smoak Jordan. He was the loving husband of Flora Wessel Jordan for over 66 years and father to Stephen Eugene Jordan and Roxanne Flora Johnson. Eugene was a decorated World War II veteran and among the first occupational troops to land in Japan. He also served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from appliance sales with Gas Engine and Electric Company. His main love, apart from God and his family, was being a part of Rosewood Baptist Church, where he was an active leader, volunteering countless hours in service and voted as a lifetime deacon. Gene had a deep faith in the Lord. He was loved by his family as well as fellow servants of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Flora; son Stephen (Janet) and daughter Roxanne; sisters, Rosemary Jordan Taylor and Betty Chambers and brother, Alfred Jordan (Francis). Memorials may be made to Rosewood Church, 2901 Rosewood Dr. Columbia SC 29205. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 27 at Rosewood Church. A graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park will follow. Family, friends and loved ones will be received at 2 p.m. prior to the service. Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, N.C. will be handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
