Eugene Vern “Gene” Hall, 57, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, August 16, 2022, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born August 12, 1965, in San Rafael, CA, Gene was the son of the late Eugene Talmadge Hall and Bettyann Sleezer Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Nancy Sleezer, and Lindsay and Cora Hall.
Gene had retired from Fiber Industries and the Townhouse II. He was an active member of Jackson Park Baptist Church, relished time spent with his beloved granddaughters and enjoyed playing golf, fishing and was a Duke fan. Gene was also a NASCAR enthusiast, having a tremendous NASCAR model car collection, and he absolutely loved Sundrop. He would help anyone with anything and truly believed in “love thy neighbor”. Gone too soon, Gene will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Family members left with cherished memories include his devoted wife of 16 years, Jeri Wooten Hall; his sons, Josh Hall (Dawn) and Andrew Hall; his stepsons, Jason Mann (Shannon) and Brett Mann (Elisabeth); his much-loved granddaughters, Mackenzie Hall and Hailey Mann; his sisters, Virginia McCombs (Willard) and Cindi Stewart; step siblings, Marty Lefler (Celeste), Carmen Steen (Scott) and Sharlyn Smith (Brian); nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate Gene’s life will begin at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor J.R. Beaver.
