Obituary: Eugenia "Jean" Motley Barbee, 74, of 676 Forest Street, Concord, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis following a period of declining health. She was born July 23, 1935 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Lewis Richard and Elsie Crisco Motley. She had retired from Carol Mae Hosiery Company in Concord with 20 years of service. She was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church, Concord. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Posey. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. They will also receive friends at the residence Sunday from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Interment will follow at a later date in West Concord Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Barbee on Jan 10, 2006. She is survived by three sons: Lane Barbee and wife Lorrene of Richfield, NC, Mark Barbee and wife Dianne and Scott Barbee all of Concord. A Brother: Pharris Motley of Phafftown, NC and six grandchildren: Melissa, Amanda, James Ryan, Zachery and Jonathon Barbee and Cheyanne Coed. Two StepGrandchildren: Tammy Miller and Stephanie Lambert, and two Great Grandchildren: Erin and Erica Coed. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Barbee.
