Obituary: Eula Mae Smith Wensil, 95, passed away Friday evening, October 13, 2017 at Big Elm Nursing Center. Born August 25, 1922 in In Hahira, GA, Eula was a daughter of the late Charles Plato and Rachel Menchu Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence "Buck" Wensil, Sr. and 9 siblings. Mrs. Wensil had retired after 25 years of service from Cannon Mills. A member of West A Church of God, she loved her church and all of her family. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Eula will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members left with cherished memories include her sons Charlie Wensil and wife Karen and Lawrence "Junior" Wensil and wife Rosa; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others who loved her. The family will receive friends Monday, October 16th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Wensil will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Greg Sloop and Rev. Barbara Watkins, pastors. Mrs. Wensil will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West A Church of God, 2211 W A Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
