Eva Kathleen Baker

July 31, 1919 — February 29, 2016

Obituary: Eva Kathleen Baker, 96, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord following a period of declining health. She was born July 31, 1919 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Lester Robert Hancock and Daisy Mae Rollins Hancock. She was one of twelve children. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion James Baker in 1995. Eva was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Daisy Watkins Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker who enjoyed yardwork, raising flowers and gardening. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Katherine Baker of Kannapolis with whom she made her home, a son, Larry James Baker and wife Vicky of Gloucester, Va., two grandchildren, Brian James Baker and wife Denice and Scott Devin Baker and wife Emily all of Gloucester, Va., two sisters, Myrtle Jordan of Chesterfield, SC and Dorothy Gulledge of Kannapolis. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. R.J. "Beaver" Hammond. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM Friday prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
