Eva Elizabeth “Sue” Ritchie, 91 of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born March 12, 1933 in Cabarrus Co. to the late Wade Hampton Ritchie Sr. and Virginia Lee Ritchie. Eva was a school teacher for many years teaching at Kannapolis City Schools and Hickory City Schools. She was a very active member of First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis, singing in the Choir and teaching Sunday School. Eva was full of life, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed taking care of others especially after her retirement and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed reading and loved watching NC State basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. In her last years she would call and talk to her sister Lucille every day. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ned Aubrey Ritchie Sr. and two son in laws Brent Beal and Tony Hartsell. Those left to cherish her memory, three daughters, Melinda Beal of Hickory, Eva Weaver (Rick) of Concord, Kathy Hartsell of Kannapolis, her son Ned Aubrey Ritchie , Jr. of Kannapolis. Also her four grandchildren Robert Beal (Megan), Hannah Kilgore (Spencer), Caleb Weaver (Gabrielle) and Sarah Beal as well as her great granddaughters; Annaka Beal, Cameron Riley Kilgore, and Carter Kilgore. In addition, her brother Henry (Barbara) Ritchie of Greensboro and sister Lucille Thomas of Concord and brother in law Archie Ritchie of Garner.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2024, at First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis with Rev. Scott Wheeler officiating. Viewing and Family Gathering will begin at 2:00 PM prior to the servce. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis, 301 Bethpage Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
