Obituary: Evelyn Goble Cline, age 81, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Abbotts Creek Center, Lexington, NC after a period of declining health. She was born September 24, 1931 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Ransome David Goble and Nell Simpson Goble. Evelyn was a 1950 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School, Kannapolis, NC. Although a homemaker for most of her life, Evelyn had also worked at the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord, NC for five years. In earlier times she was an active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC where she had served as secretary of the Intermediate Dept. for many years and had taught Vacation Bible School. Evelyn was also very active with the V.F.W. Poston-Perkins 8989 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a faithful wife who had traveled with her husband who was a career military man around the country. In addition her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Cleatus Cline; and a sister, Patsy Wilson. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Richard Graf. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her three daughters; Susan Brinkley; Deborah (Dennis) Ford; and Sandra (Craig) Lambert; four grandchildren, Dawn (Sam) Jennings, Brian Brinkley, Nicole (Matt) Bradley, and Jared (Megan) Fisher; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Sherrill.
