Obituary: China Grove - Evelyn Mae McCorkle Overcashage 88 of 350 Linn Ave. China Grove ,Enochville Community, died Monday March 23, 2009 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P M Wed. March 25, 2009at St. Enoch Lutheran Church, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P M before the service. Mrs Overcash was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Rowan County to the late Clifford R. McCorkle Sr. and the late Edith Yost McCorkle. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools and employed with Cannon Mills Finishing Dept. for many years retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church. Mrs Overcash was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Vernon D. Overcash in 1996. She is survived by a son Gary Overcash of the home. Three daughters Glenda Golgart and husband Dale of De Sota, Texas. Diane Overcash of the home, Mary Overcash of Rockwell. Three brothers Clifford "Bill" McCorkle Jr. China Grove, Harold McCorkle Rock Hill S.C. and Jerry McCorkle Salisbury. Two sisters Cathrine " Kay" Beaver of Charlotte and Ruth Westmoreland of Huntersville. Three Grandchildren Dale Golgart, Erin Eastwood and Hilary Overcash. Two Greatgrand Children Taylor Eastwood and Drew Golgart. Mrs Overcash loved to sew and cook . Her specialties were sweet Potato pie and Persimmon pudding. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
